Derick Xavier was born in Queens, NY in 1988 in the neighborhood of Astoria/Ditmars to Brazilian immigrant parents.  Around the end of High school his family moved to Tampa, Florida where he began to pursue a career in architecture and engineering.  After obtaining his Associates in Computer Drafting he moved to Orlando, FL

to acquire his Bachelors in Film.

Starting out as a PA in 2010 he has worked up & down the east coast on all levels and budgets of production. 

Having earned his stripes he progressed to the Camera Dept.  Entrusted with positions ranging from Media Manager, Asst. Camera & Operator.  Now embarking on a journey of expressing himself creatively as Director of Photography.  As of July 2022 he became a proud member of IATSE Local 600 International Cinematographers Guild.

Derick's currently based out of Atlanta, GA.

Growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, his inspiration to join the industry stems from the legendary movies of that era.  Equipped with paramount family values, a legacy of creativity, travel & adventure.

A cinephile and an entertainer with an unbreakable drive.
